Running for office is never cheap. In 2017, when I successfully won my election to the Jersey Village City Council, I spent about $2,500 on that campaign. Roughly half of that came out of my own pocket.

Don’t get me wrong – it was money well spent. I considered it a worthwhile investment in the future of our community. What I have found, however, is that it doesn’t end with the campaign.

Maintaining a website isn’t cheap. I spend a little more than $200 a year for hosting. Sometimes it’s important to get information out to folks in our city and fast, and so there are some Facebook advertising costs that are worth it to ensure you reach as many people as possible.

And the term you win is for just two years. There’s always a chance that someone decides to run for office against you, which triggers the need for more expenditures: yard signs, door hangers, postcards, postage, etc. To the best of my knowledge, I have not yet drawn an opponent for this year’s election, but there are still a few weeks left in the filing period.

Since the end of my campaign in 2017, I footed the bill for all of these costs myself. I’m happy to continue to do so. A few people, however, have recently asked if they could help defray some of those costs. I thought it might be a good idea to find a way to make it easy for anyone to do so.

No donation is too small. Whether it’s $5, $10 or $20, your contribution to my effort to shine a light on city government in Jersey Village and keep everyone informed will help me to extend the reach of my effort and keep more people informed.

If you would like, you can also choose to make a recurring monthly donation. This is a great way to spread a donation out over time and provide me the ability to do more to advocate for Jersey Village.

Regardless, I will keep investing the time, effort and money it takes to do this because it is my passion. I don’t get paid to be on city council – I put my energy and passion into it because I believe it makes a difference for our city now and for future generations.

As always, thanks for your support. It means the world to me that you join me in this effort, whether it is through your vote, your encouragement, your financial contributions, or your prayers.

Together we can continue to advocate for a Jersey Village that continues to be an amazing place to live, play and raise a family!
